Houzz Kitchen Trends Study 2017: Appliances
So, we have looked at how and why people are updating their kitchens, and which cabinets, worktops and built-in features are being chosen, and this week, we’re going to look at what appliances homeowners are opting for to complement their kitchens.
According to the Houzz Kitchen Trends Study, 89% are investing in appliances, with more than four fifths selecting a dishwasher (82%). Other popular appliances were fridge/freezers (78%), extractor fans (77%), and hobs (75%).
Growing in popularity, homeowners are also now choosing boiling water taps (24%), warming drawers (18%), and drinks fridges (16%).
As technology continues to develop, it’s no surprise to see some of these gadgets entering the kitchen. Many who are upgrading their appliances also opt for hi-tech features such as colour touch-screen displays (17%) and wireless controls via smartphone or tablet (12%).
Stainless steel (47%) is the most popular appliance colour choice, followed by black (22%) and white (10%).
When combined with cabinets of the same colour like the designs below, it’s obvious why black and white appliances are rising in popularity, as people look to create a seamless flow.
From left to right, the Miele Pureline appliances have been combined with ALNOSTAR SUND in Light Grey (full kitchen here), ALNOART PRO in High-gloss Black (full kitchen here), and ALNOSTAR FINE in Ultra High-gloss White (full kitchen here).
Given the way and speed at which technology is evolving, and the wealth of hob choices available to us now, choosing the right type for you should be a big consideration.
The results of the Houzz Kitchen Trends Study 2017 show that induction is now the favoured hob type (40%), followed by gas (31%).
There are benefits to both hob types, and like most things, it comes down to personal preference. If you’re not sure which you would prefer for your kitchen, or want to know more about the benefits, we recommend this blog from our friends at Miele.
In our next article, we will be looking at how kitchens affect our lifestyles.
